Need someone good with hair products for my question!!!!?
I have pretty healthy hair. I don’t heat style, blow dry, use hairsprays or gels. I use biolage hydratherepie shampoo and conditioner followed by the leave in daily tonic. When my hair dries, it gets kinky and has some waves. So I bought sunsilk straighten up creme (for after shower). I have another conditioner under my sink Back to Basics mango coconut conditioner ($10). It contains an ingredient pretty simular (if not the exact same thing), Cyclotetrasiloxane.
Sunsilk contains Cyclopentasiloxane. Which is a silicone fluid, as well as the one in Back to Basics. Wikipedia says Cyclopetasiloxane is an emollient (something that softens). The sunsilk does a good job at making my hair straight and no frizz. I want to keep using it because my hair is straigh with no heat styling, but I want to know if those chemicles are good or bad for my hair. I was wondering because sunsilk is a cheaper product, but back to basics is more of a salon one that both contain the silicone fluid.
At what point in the list of ingredients does Cyclopentasiloxane occur in each product? Remember, the closer to the top of the list, the more concentrated it is. Personally, I don’t like to use things in my hair or on my body that I cannot pronounce. I prefer products like Aveda which are botanically derived. Consumer labels are very misleading. A manufacturer can put just one drop of lavender oil in a shampoo consisting mainly of water, alcohols, sodium laureth sulfate, and mineral oils,(derived from crude oil) and claim on the label that it is all natural lavender shampoo.
